Effective after closing on Monday, December 12, 2011, the Kosher Subway will no longer be Kosher. The facility is being sold and will become a Non-Kosher Subway store. They will remove the "Kosher Subway - Star-K" sign above the store and place signs on each door stating, "This location is NO LONGER kosher". This change does NOT affect the Subway in the Rockville, MD, Jewish Community Center.

BAUDUCCO brand wafers and cookies, manufactured by Pandurata Alimento, Sao Paulo, Brazil, is no longer under Star-K Certification. Products bearing the Star-K symbol were produced under certification.
Packaged cakes and desserts made by RUSSIAN DESSERTS INC., Ozone Park, NY, bear an unauthorized Star-K. These products are NOT certified by the Star-K Kosher Certification.
It has come to our attention that the new 7-Eleven on Reisterstown Road at Naylors Lane next to Office Depot has purchased a hotdog maker and is grilling hot dogs under the 7-Eleven supervision.
We were informed that last Friday many people purchased hotdogs assuming they are permitted according to our Torah.
We wish to inform the public that we cannot recommend a non-Jewish kosher supervision or the kosher supervision given by an entity or individual who does not eat kosher themselves.

June 15, 2011 GFS (Gordon Food Service) brand institutional-size Artichoke Quarters was labeled in error with a Star-K. The Star-K does not certify Artichoke Quarters.
Corrective action has been taken. Revised labels bear the correct certification - a six-pointed star in a circle. This is the Kosher Supervision symbol of the Rabbinate of Madrid (symbol below).
As of May 18, 2011,Ouri's / Fan Caterers of Brooklyn, NY is no longer Star-K certified.
Foodchem International Corporation Pudong, Shanghai, China, is not, nor has ever been certified by the Star-K. Any certification letters to the contrary are unauthorized.
Kilikanoon Wines, produced in Australia, bear a symbol that is similar to the Star-K symbol. The symbol is the company’s logo. These wines are not kosher and are not certified by Star-K. Corrective action is being taken.
Effective May 1, 2011, Supreme Meats / Glatt Boys, Bronx, NY, is no longer Star-K certified.

There are a number of local stores that receive packaged items through a privately owned Jewish company which does not sell its chometz in accordance with Star-K standards. These stores include TARGET, SAFEWAY, SUPERFRESH and GIANT. Other stores may be identified in the near future and we will issue updates as soon as more information becomes available.
TARGET, SAFEWAY, and SUPERFRESH
These stores receives many of their chometz groceries, baked goods and frozen chometz products from the aforementioned distributor. Therefore, the Star-K recommends that shoppers delay purchasing chometz items from these stores for a four-week period, through May 24 (the Tuesday after Lag Ba'Omer).
GIANT
Likewise, Giant procures many of its packaged groceries and frozen foods from the aforementioned distributor. Again, shoppers are advised to delay their purchases of these chometz items during the recommended waiting period. Some examples of these products include:
• Pasta
• Cereal
• Packaged cookies
• Frozen bagels and waffles
However, there are many products that Giant procures from a different distributor, which does adhere to Star-K standards in the sale of its chometz, and are acceptable. These products include:
• All heimishe baked goods, such as those sold under the brand names Greens, Zomicks, Osem, and Kedem
• All heimishe frozen products in the kosher freezer, such as blintzes and frozen pizza
In addition, please note that all fresh-baked breads and buns with kosher certification are supplied by local vendors and are acceptable. Examples of these are:
Giant, H&S, Arnold, and Pepperidge Farm: sandwich bread, rye bread, hot dog and hamburger buns.

The two mascaras listed below were reported in error by the manufacturer as not containing a chometz ingredient and were thus posted incorrectly in the 2011 Passover Directory as chometz free.
These two mascaras do contain a chometz ingredient.

Based on requests for clarification we have received, the Star-K would like to inform the public of the following:
Although IRENE'S BAKERY in Bensalem, PA, is certified for year-round use by the Star-K, it is NOT certified for Passover. Rabbi Novoseller with the (KO) provides Passover certification.
FRESH EXPRESS bagged salads must bear a Star-K P to be considered kosher for Passover.
Due to worm infestation, the Star-K does not recommend whole sardines from Portugal, Norway, Scotland and Poland, even when bearing kosher certification. The skinless, boneless variety have not been found to have worms and are acceptable with reliable kosher certification. Whole sardines from Morocco and Philippines do not have an infestation problem

Please be advised that HOFFMAN & CO. / LEWIS CATERERS, Baltimore, Maryland, is advertising a "Passover Food To Go" program bearing the Star-K symbol. In fact, the Star-K was printed in error. The Passover Food To Go program is not certified by the Star-K.
In addition, please note that effective April 1, 2011, the STAR-K will no longer be the certifying agency for HOFFMAN & CO. / LEWIS CATERERS.
Weight Watchers Cappuccino Cream Melts bears an unauthorized Star-K and is presently not certified. Weight Watchers is currently working to rectify this, and proper packaging is pending.
Weight Watchers Blackberry, Cherry and Strawberry Fruities are kosher pareve and certified by the Star K when bearing the Star-K.
Dole value added Coleslaw with added dressing packets are not Star-K certified. The Star-K symbol appearing next to the sell by date code was labeled in error. Corrective action is being taken.
As a result of a recent investigation, we have found it possible that quinoa’s kosher for Passover status is compromised when it grows or is processed in the proximity of certain crops.
Therefore, Quinoa will only be accepted with reliable Kosher for Passover supervision.
